"When the chips are down I'll be around"

Cardigan: Urban Outfitters
Dress and necklace: H+M
Boots: Next
Leggings: Topshop

This is my outfit for today for just doing some jobs around the house and doing uni work. I snapped the cardigan up in Urban Outfitter's sale at the beginning of the month and have practically lived in it since- it's so cosy! I bought the dress in an H+M when I went to Paris about 5 years ago and it still fits (a little on the short side though hence the leggings).

I've had a good week, I booked the flights to Rome with my friends and we are going in less than two weeks. As classics students we thought it was high time we went- so excited! I also bought this necklace from H+M, it's very different to what I usually go for but I thought I needed a statement necklace in my life and hopefully I don't look like Rachel the wannabe gangster :s

Those looking for a new blog to read check out my lovely friend Mel's over at her blog. She's been an avid fan of the blogging world for a while and I persuaded her to start her own.

"It's just the bones I'm made of" Twist on the Trend #3

Jacket: TK Maxx
Jumper: H+M
Blouse: Topshop
Shorts: H+M
Boots: Next

This is the latest Twist on the Trend, and for those of you who haven't read one of these posts before some other bloggers and I take on a different trend every two weeks and style it our own ways- an interesting way to see how we all make our own twist on trends. This time we had the leather trend to style. Here's how we all styled the trend:

Top row: Bree from The Urban Umbrella, Me! Emily from The Tale of Two Buttons
Bottom row: Paloma and Jess from Cos It's The Bee's Knees

Be sure to go on the other girls' blogs to hear them talking about their own outfits and how they styled the trend. What do you think of my outfit? I'm normally found on the safer side of fashion but this jacket is just the right amount to 'rock' my look up a bit but softened by my favourite jumper with a cheeky collar poking out underneath. I've also got my eye on a few leather skater skirts....

How would you style the leather trend?

October Loves...

01) The mustard knit and the gorgeous cable pattern makes this jumper pretty irresistible.  I'm sure my wardrobe could make some room to fit it in....! This could be teamed with jeans, shorts, dresses and would be perfect for cosy nights in front of the T.V. With a pretty hefty price tag of £89.50 from Jack Wills  it will be probably staying as just me lusting over it but it might make a sneaky appearance over on my Christmas list. But a girl can dream....

02) Urban Outfitters have such an amazing home collection offering quirky AND cute, this Scrabble-esque cushion is really cute and could work either on the sofa or on my bed!

03) Another Jack Wills pick (can you tell I'm impressed by their collection for this season?!) this playsuit is somewhere in-between smart and casual, bit of a statement yet not as out there as co-ordinating outfits which I definitely don't have the confidence to wear. Isn't the print pretty? Once again this is priced at £89.50 (magic price going on there I think) BUT it is really nice!

04) Old ladyish? Yes. Impractical? Yes. Not really sure why I like these 'slippers' by Topshop so much but I do. Super cute and love the texturing pattern.

05) Another Topshop pick, these tapestry shorts are really nice and make me think if William Morris had done a collection for Topshop- this is what they would look like! Teamed with a pair of knitted tights, brogues and a cosy jumper this would make a dream outfit....only bummer is they are out of stock!

06) As a fan of all things glittery/sparkly this Models Own nail polish in 'Freak Out' as part of the Mirrorball collection ticks all the right boxes. Think of it as an autumn/winter version of American Apparel's galaxy one!

What do you think of my picks? What's on your wishlist for the month?

I'm back to full-time loving Ben Howard again, listen to this one called 'Bones' is amazing (tissues at the ready though)

"Baby in our wildest moments"

Jumper: Pull & Bear   Shorts: Topshop   Loafers: New Look
Burst of colour alert!!

This is what I wore today to go and catch-up with a friend over some lunch, followed by a little marathon of 'FRIENDS' episodes- perfect!

I love this knitted Snoopy jumper from Pull & Bear, it's got brown suede-y elbow pads too which you can't see. I bought these shorts from Topshop last summer and still really enjoy wearing them- possibly a little too short to not team with tights! Also just realised I'm basically wearing the Team GB colours.....have any of you been watching the Olympics? I've really enjoyed watching the gymnastics and the swimming.

Also I've collated a little playlist of what songs I'm really enjoying listening to at the moment- see what you think!

Jessie Ware- 'Wildest Moments'

Bombay Bicycle Club 'Beg'

Lucy Rose 'Lines'

Light reflects from your shadow

I had really been hoping to do an outfit post for you all today but as I've been helping my Dad paint the house I've been stuck wearing a not so glamorous bright blue all in one suit to protect my clothes from the paint (thats about five million sizes too big) so I'm afraid no outfit post.

BUT I'm off to London for the weekend to stay with a friend so fingers crossed I'll get some snaps then! Hopefully it won't be too busy but with the Olympics just over a week away I have a feeling it will be.

Anyway, as I've been busy painting the house I decided to paint my nails too and I've got something pretty to look down at!

I used my Nails Inc 'Picadilly Circus' for the base colour as it is such a gorgeous pinky/red, once that had dried I added a coat of the Topshop 'Ice Crush' for some extra sparkle. I love that it has both small and larger chunks of glitter which gives a really nice effect (just wish my nails would grow a little bit!).

100% in love with the Topshop nail varnishes, as a polka dot lover I think the caps are really cute and the range of shades they have are all so pretty! My collection is slowly growing.

Do any of you have the Topshop 'Ice Crush'? What shades do you team it with?

Stone to stone they take me on, I'm walking 'til the break of dawn

Me outside the V+A: Hoodie: American Apparel//Top: H+M//Shorts: New Look
Reiss outside the V+A

I absolutely love London, probably because it makes such a refreshing change from the endless fields I am surrounded by back home! This weekend I went down to see my boyfriend Reiss who lives just outside of London. We met up in the city centre and had an amazing day exploring Harrods, enjoying a cuppa in the Knightsbridge Starbucks, wandering around the fabulous V + A museum topped off by some retail therapy in Oxford Street in the afternoon not to mention being treated to lots of yummy food!

Despite the odd shower of rain here and there and a lot of walking we had a lovely day and both bought a pair of 'Toms' shoes ready for the summer. I bought the navy blue pair that have stripes down the sides whilst Reiss just went for plain navy blue (after trying on every style and size in the shop!). I decided to leave them at Reiss' house for now as it's doubtful the weather is going to improve in the next week I am home! I also bought a Kohl eyeliner in black from the Topshop make-up range as I had read such good reviews. Where are everyone's favourite places in London?
(Toms shoes picture: Toms website)

The Oxford Street Topshop was very very busy as always, I found a nice pair of coral trousers in the sale but the queue to try them on was ridiculously long so I ended up leaving them. I also saw a beautiful dress by another brand that they stock but now I can't find it on the internet- typical!!

I've had a little look at the Topshop sale online- far less stressful than scouring through the rails and these are my top picks! Have any of you found any bargains in the mid-season sales?

Also I am very excited to have reached 50 followers!! Thank you to everyone who reads my blog, I love writing it but I also enjoy just as much reading everyone elses! My second year uni exams are getting closer and closer so my posting may become a little less frequent but I do have some great posts lined up so do keep reading! xxx

A little Topshop treat

Having handed in my last essay of the term today, which is the last one I will write during my second year (scary how fast time is flying by) as well as a test this morning I treated myself to a haircut this afternoon and a little cheeky trip into Topshop. I don't know why sometimes when you go in literally everything you see you could quite happily buy and this was definitely the case this afternoon. Walking around feeling a little bit like Kate Middleton with my bouncy blow dried and newly cut hair I quickly ended up with a collection of clothes I wanted to try on. My definite favourite was this beauty of a playsuit:

It is so pretty (my rubbish Blackberry camera does not do it justice) and the loose fit at the top of the legs really does make it look like a dress. However at £48 I just could not quite justify it, maybe once I've been working at my local pub back home a bit over Easter I'll treat myself (if anyone wants to see it on their website just click here). However I didn't leave empty handed, I spent a long time at their make-up counter and finally chose one of their lipsticks in 'Brighton Rock', I'd seen that a few other bloggers have bought this shade and really like the pinky shade (normally I'm a red lippie girl). It is a nice creamy consistency and doesn't dry out my lips which others can tend to do.

Has anyone else had a rather weak moment in Topshop recently? I think their collection this season is really good and such a varied mix. Also who is everyone's hair inspiration at the moment? Kate Middleton seems to be sweeping the nation with her luscious locks- I'm very jealous!
