ROMA! Part 2

I can't believe that this time last week I was enjoying my second day in Rome exploring the Forum, Colosseum, Pantheon and the Trevi Fountain- and now I'm back to writing my dissertation and worrying about the laundry...I already want to go back! You can see the first part of my trip there by clicking here if you would like to see what we got up to on our first day there.

What I wore:
Jacket: Barbour
Jumper: H+M
Jeans: ASOS
Bag: Urban Outfitters

The weather was certainly a lot better on this day than it had been the previous day which was why we left the more outdoorsy sights to the second day. This was taken by Trevi Fountain and was actually where we ended the day of sightseeing. Do we look exhausted? We were feeling the strain by this point of 2 full days of walking everywhere on cobbles and in desperate need of Gelato...

I couldn't believe how small the Piazza is that the Trevi Fountain is in- really tucked away. It was buzzing with tourists all patiently waiting to throw their penny over their shoulder into the fountain with the hope that it will bring them back to Rome.

(little fact for you- the money that is thrown into the Trevi Fountain every day is around 3,000 euros and at the end of every day it is collected from the bottom of the fountain and given to local charities.)

Victor Emmanuel Monument in the background (aka 'The Wedding Cake') amazing blue sky too!

The girls and me with the Arch of Constantine behind us...the cheeky bugger stole parts off other peoples arches to make his own !!!

Gorgeous view from the Palatine Hill of the Colosseum and mountains in the distance

Truly respecting the age of the Forum by standing on some bits of old stone!!
 Walking up the Palatine Hill

 Obligatory Colosseum picture

Inside the Colosseum- its even bigger than you think it is going to be, words can't describe it!

Our well deserved cheeky lunch that day aka CARBOCIDE... bruschetta, chips and the most amazing spaghetti carbonara ever, I've never tasted anything so good
The girls and I at dinner that evening in our favourite Pizzeria which was just around the corner from our hotel, you could tell it was a bit of a hidden gem as the prices were really reasonable AND locals were eating in there.

So there you have it! My little adventure to Rome summarised in 2 posts- I hope you've enjoyed them. We had such a laugh exploring the Eternal City...we must have looked like serious nerds getting so excited by the ruins but we didn't care. Plus getting into the Forum, Palatine Hill and the Colosseum for free were definite bonuses- perks of the degree.

I love seeing people's travel posts of where they have been and if you are thinking about going to Rome- DO IT! I can't believe I got to almost 21 without even going...I'll definitely be returning

"These fishes in the sea they're staring at me oh"

Body (Top) and shorts- H&M// Shoes and sunglasses- Topshop// Bag- Accessorize// Nobbly knees- Models own!

Two posts from me in the space of two days?! This definitely doesn't normally happen so I hope I haven't sent you all into a state of shock!

Not a particularly ground-breaking outfit in the fashion world but the nonetheless one I really enjoy wearing and feel really comfortable- can you ever own too many stripey tops?! (I'm hoping it's not just me that seems to be a stripe top fiend) Is there anything that you seem to own lots of a similar item?

Today I finally got to see my best-friend Evie who I hadn't been able to see for ages so it was fantastic to get a whole day together! We wanted to make the most of the sunshine so went to a little village called Orford that has it's own castle and cute quayside which we had a wander around before heading onto Woodbridge a nearby town that has plenty going on a lovely river. We had lunch in a lovely little cafe right by the river's edge and had the most gorgeous prawns and salad- perfect food for the weather.

I took several pictures over the day so decided to collate them all-together for a little sneaky-peek into our day. In the top pic on the left is Orford Castle, next to that is me enjoying an ice-cream in Woodbridge. Me again in Orford on a cannon on the bottom left and the gorgeous Evie in Orford. It was such a good day with the perfect mix of sights to see, lovely food and glorious weather- a very good sunday!

What has everyone else been doing to enjoy the weather? xxx

"Primadonna life the rise and fall"

Playsuit: TK Maxx//Watch: ASOS//Necklace: Urban Outfitters

Like everyone else up and down the country this gorgeous weather has thrown everyone into a phase of wardrobe dilemma- bring out the summery clothes? Or suffer slowly in your winter ones? Loved seeing what people have brought over the past few days to look stylish in the spring/summer trends. I decided it's still not quite hot enough to get both my legs and arms out so today I reached for my trusty play-suit and teamed it with tights. I got this at the beginning of last summer on an impromptu trip to the local TK Maxx with friends. I always used to be very cynical about TK Maxx, the one near me back home is pretty awful and stocks brands you have never heard of before. However, this one near my uni was amazingly well stocked and with plenty of things on offer. I snapped this up for £15- I love the bow and dot print whilst the white lacey trim gives it an extra something along with the flattering drawn in waistline.(I'm a sucker for patterns, prints and lace!)

Now when I see TK Maxx adverts promoting that they go "direct from the designer to you" I no longer grumble and instead get quite excited! Whilst this dress is made by a brand I had never heard of TK Maxx were stocking items like Hunter wellies (SQUEAL- very exciting to a country girl like me), Crew Clothing and an impressive selection of beauty and hair-care products. One of my best friends never ceases to amaze me when she tells me her latest cardigan, shoes etc are from there! If you want a bargain and are not after something too specific then TK Maxx really can be a rewarding shopping experience and it's nice knowing that not everyone will have what you are buying too!

I think the quality and the range of the products really does vary from store to store (I'm convinced Londoners get the best choice)! Have any of you bought any bargains in TK Maxx? Or are you a bit cynical like I used to be? xxx
